Over the past seven years, Governor Mitch Daniels and the State Legislature have guided Indiana through the rough waters of the American economy. These efforts have resulted in Indiana emerging as the model of economic growth, efficiency, and service nationwide.

Now we are poised to expand on that success for all Hoosiers. This challenge requires a leader with demonstrated management ability, not just an understanding of the issues, but actual experience leading complex organizations. We need a veteran of commerce, an ambassador to the business community who can work side-by-side with corporate leaders to bring investment, jobs, and new industry to Indiana.

Throughout my nearly 30-year career, that is what I've done. From my days at West Point and as a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army, I developed the leadership to help people achieve complex, difficult tasks. As a chief executive, both in large organizations and small, I learned to identify and define major objectives, and set the vision for future goals. Finally, as a financial professional, I fine-tuned the ability to recruit, invest, and manage capital effectively for diverse results, with a strong focus on economic development and job growth.

I want to raise Indiana's standard even higher and apply these experiences for all Hoosiers, so we can attain the economic security we've earned and deserve. Please join me in this task, and let's make Indiana the land of opportunity for all of us.
